For parents & carers of children with a disability

show

me!

who is this for?

There is a huge amount of information, documentation, education and support on how to understand and give a child with special needs the best opportunity in life.

For the carer, parents, grandparents, siblings around this child however, there is not.....

Is this you?
  • Feel burnt out

  • Is this it?

  • Where have I gone?

  • Why do I have no joy?

  • Am I just a function?

  • Stuck

  • Alone

  • Disregard your own needs

  • Forgotten how to laugh and feel the sun on your skin

  • I am so tired of my life?.........hang on I’m just so tired

Being a carer of a child with special needs is a full time job, for many, often without established boundaries or a space for you in your life.

Each of us has been given skills that are specific to us. When we develop those skills they help us live a fulfilled life and impact positively on those in our life.

It is important to be there for your child.

It is equally important to be there for yourself……..

you are not alone.

ABOUT

TODAY I RISE

The Today I Rise team understands this from a personal and professional experience of working with children, carers and educators of people with special needs.

The workshops of Today I Rise offers the opportunities for carers to participate in a program to empower and realize dreams, to ignite and impact the lives of the carers through sharing, workshops, social media and a strong community. During the course of the program you will be given simple practical tools that help you stay focused on your goals and create the change you desire.

As part of theToday I Rise community, you will be able to access support and sharing of ideas and experiences of other, like minded people.

Build your tribe!

something to consider...

Many of us don’t pursue our dreams, out of guilt, fear, finances or simply not knowing where to begin.

It is easier to channel our energy into others, out of necessity, habit or because it makes us feel needed – the action feels like progression.

You can continue to give to others AND yourself.

We have always had the power to claim the truth of who we are and live our dreams. Society and circumstance has taught us to diminish and ignore that power.

Be seen for who you are.– Janet Mock

why do

this workshop?

What happens when we don't act upon our most important intentions?

The constant concern and care that you give daily can mean you are left scraping the bottom of your “mother bucket” desperately clinging to the thought, ‘I have done it before, surely I will find a drop of resilience within that helps me continue.’

And you will……for what ever reason………putting yourself at the bottom of the list.

Where are you?

Today I Rise workshops have been developed specifically for carers of children with disabilities or different needs.

As a care giver you have developed an array of skills purely from having to learn on the run, out of necessity. Learning to navigate unchartered territory by building a makeshift toolbox as you go.

The content in these workshops is designed to help carers redirect their focus back to themselves, encouraging them to rediscover who they want to be and what their dreams are, acting on their intentions ……… creating purpose and meaning.

Dreaming is easy – even seeing it clearly is not difficult.

Get busy living your life rather than defining it by your circumstance – there is nothing that is un-figure-out-able

YOU want something you’ve never had; you have to do something you’ve never done

See it- believe it -and act on it – Simple right?

Maintaining momentum and creating change within your life requires community and encouragement

Today I Rise provides a forum for carers to be part of a like minded “tribe”, sharing their experiences and gaining support with the knowledge that they are not alone.
